We are all in when Kylie Jenner declares this vibrant red to be the nail color of the year.
Forget about somber black cherry; Kylie Jenner is changing the rules of manicure color for spring with a striking, daring, and completely unexpected shade. The beauty tycoon made headlines and waves over the weekend when she debuted a flaming orange-red manicure while out and about. She stopped by Ulta Beauty to check on her Kylie Cosmetics empire and sprayed some perfume as if it were any other day.

However, her fingernails? Not at all typical.
The style, which was meticulously painted by her longtime nail artist Zola Ganzorigt, was intended for a "future project," although this color is definitely hot right now. Additionally, this red was blended to fit the season's livelier, lighter tone rather than the richer, wintery reds we typically associate with holiday glitz.
Ganzorigt told Vogue, "We wanted something more vibrant than a traditional Christmas red." In order to create this vivid, new color, we played chemist and combined two colors.
The secret recipe? One coat of "Big Apple Red," a cult-classic shade influenced by the electric energy of New York City, was applied over one coat of OPI's "Rust and Relaxation," a warm, earthy orange tone. The end effect is a manicure that somehow manages to make a 10-finger statement without shouting, while balancing the lines between sunset and siren.
Make it spicy yet still spring red.
This is not your cool-girl burgundy or even your grandmother's cherry red. As you sip iced matcha or absently tap your nails on the steering wheel, it is the kind of hue that catches the light—and perhaps a few compliments—and has warmth and vibrancy. This nail style is essentially the equivalent of entering a room and knowing you have got it; it feels polished but sun-drenched, flirty but grounded.
The TikTok-fueled notion that red nails attract amorous attention is known as "red nail theory," but Jenner's manicure demonstrates something quite different: color is a form of energy. And this crimson, specially mixed and spicy? It exudes ambition, self-assurance, and a hint of main character vigor.
The Takeaway
This shade is your cue to ditch your neutrals for a little while and go bold if spring is all about rebirth. Turn red. Not just any red, though. Choose a red that is ready for anything, feels like it has been caressed by the sun, and is agitated by orange zest.
