After criticizing Tyler Perry for his widely shared statement at Angie Stone's burial service in Austell, Georgia, Mo'Nique sparked intense emotions.
Mo'Nique Responds to Perry's Supposed Hypocrisy
Mo'Nique posted an "open letter" and a screenshot of Perry's remarks during the service on Instagram on March 18. She acknowledged Stone's influence and offered Stone's loved ones her sympathy before speaking to Perry.
We want to express our deepest sympathies to Angie Stone's friends and family. We stand on the shoulders of ancestors and elders like you, Sister Angie, and your struggle motivates us to keep going," she added.
After that, Mo'Nique focused on Perry, pointing out his remarks regarding abuse in the music business. She did, however, draw attention to inconsistencies in his behavior toward her, citing the claimed time he called her “hard to deal with” even though he had never worked with her. She also claimed that he blackballed her, which had an effect on her income and career. She also said that Perry has not yet offered a heartfelt apology and requested her to promote Precious for free.
Mo'Nique claimed Perry's previous acts went against his speech's emphasis on treating industry giants fairly, with respect, and paying them appropriately, which sparked controversy.
